Springfield Technical Community College has opened a STEM Center that features resources and services to assist students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students who visit the facility can use a computer lab, study lounge and take advantage of other services, including exam proctoring, career exploration and class support.

WTCC radio to launch fundraising effort in December

WTCC FM 90.7, the radio station on the Springfield Technical Community College campus, will hold its annual Radiothon 2019 Dec. 1-Dec. 8. The station, which has been on the air for 50 years, provides a wide variety of music and information. WTCC strives to share local events and community information that directly affects the community.

STCC launches donation initiatives for the holiday season

From toys for children to clothing for veterans, Springfield Technical Community College has launched efforts to make the holiday season brighter for those in need. The Student Activities Office at STCC and the Children’s Study Home of Springfield, a nonprofit organization supporting children and families, are collecting new unwrapped toys for children in need (ages infant to 18 years old).

STCC remembers City Councilor E. Henry Twiggs

Late last week the city of Springfield and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts lost a lifelong advocate for justice and equality, City Councilor E. Henry Twiggs. Councilor Twiggs touched the lives of many STCC students, staff and faculty. The STCC community expresses their sincerest condolences to the family of Councilor Twiggs. May he rest in peace.

Hotspot gift from T-Mobile to help students access the internet at home

Springfield Technical Community College received a gift from telecommunication company T-Mobile which will allow the STCC Library to more than double the total number of mobile hotspots lent to students. Students can borrow mobile hotspots, which are small boxes with a cell phone data plan, and take them anywhere to access the internet for studying. The units create hotspots, which are areas where a user can access the internet using Wi-Fi.

Winter online classes now enrolling at STCC

Registration is open for Springfield Technical Community College’s four-week online winter session. Winter session is an affordable opportunity for all area college students to earn and transfer college credit during winter break. STCC’s winter online classes are taught by faculty experts, with years of experience teaching online.
