Registration open for STCC class offering overview of advanced manufacturing

She has applied her expertise in instructional technology and design in higher education and industry for 15 years.

For Miranda Kamukala, there is no better place than Springfield Technical Community College to pursue a degree and get immersed in a welcoming academic environment. “The biggest thing for me was the diversity,” Kamukala said. “I grew up in a mostly white area so diversity was something that was very important to me in the college that I chose.”

STCC celebrates police officers in first-ever pinning ceremony

In a pinning ceremony at Springfield Technical Community College, Police Chief Jose “Joe” Rivera administered the oath of office to two recently hired campus police officers and a longtime officer who was promoted to sergeant. Friends and family of the officers and sergeant on July 23 joined STCC President John B. Cook and college staff, including fellow campus police officers, on the seventh floor of Scibelli Hall for the badge pinning ceremony, the first of its kind at STCC.

STCC to offer class this fall for family child care providers

Springfield Technical Community College will offer a class in the fall for family child care providers in partnership with the union that represents early childhood educators. The course, Administration of Family Child Care, is free for members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 509. It will run during the “Fall 2” session which begins Oct. 27. Anyone in the community who is not affiliated with SEIU can enroll in the course for a fee.

MassHire Workforce Boards of Hampden and Franklin Hampshire Counties are offering free training at Springfield Technical Community College to individuals interested in pursuing a career in medical assisting. Residents of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties are eligible to apply. Eligible, approved individuals can enroll in the medical assistant program at Springfield Technical Community College.

STCC professor, alumna draw inspiration from leadership program

Leadership Pioneer Valley recently celebrated 21 graduates who went through its intense, condensed virtual leadership program. Two of the 21 graduates – a Springfield Technical Community College assistant professor Aimee Dalenta and STCC alumna Kara Woolridge – reflected on lessons learned in the LPV’s leadership development program known as LEAP.

Former pro basketball player comes home to talk about hoops with youth at STCC
