Westfield State University, STCC announce urban studies 2+2+1 partnership

STCC dedicates Tuohey Family Welcome Center at launch of major gifts campaign

At the launch of the college’s first major gifts campaign in more than a decade, Springfield Technical Community College President John B. Cook announced the naming of the Tuohey Family Welcome Center at the Student Learning Commons. Brian Tuohey, of Longmeadow, a generous supporter of STCC, beamed with delight after hearing the news. His family, including his five children and 12 grandchildren, made a surprise appearance at the kickoff event on Oct. 22.

Asphalt Academy at STCC paves the way to construction careers

Springfield Technical Community College plans to open a mobile lab on campus to meet a demand in the construction industry for trained asphalt technicians and inspectors. Students will train in the mobile lab as they pursue certification as hot mix asphalt plant technicians and hot mix asphalt paving inspectors.

STCC to host Health Careers Exploration Night on Nov. 14

Springfield Technical Community College on Thursday, Nov. 14, will offer Health Careers Exploration Night, an opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a health care professional to learn more about STCC’s programs. Open to the public, the free event will take place between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. While no registration is required, visitors should check in with organizers in the first-floor lobby of Building 20, on the Pearl Street side of the campus.

“Eric Pelka: 90s NYC to Rural Western Massachusetts” features dozens of paintings and drawings in an elaborate installation at the Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College on view through Nov. 9. Stop & Shop donation to help hungry students at STCC

for students in need. Stop & Shop donated $5,000 to support the Ram Cupboard, an emergency food pantry designed to help support students in meeting basic nutritional needs. Students who qualify receive emergency groceries at no cost to them.

STCC, Beal Elementary School partner in tutoring program

Children at Alice B. Beal Elementary School will get help in class this year from students at Springfield Technical Community College. STCC is partnering with the elementary school at 285 Tiffany St. in an initiative that gives experience to college students who are considering careers as teachers. The Beal students will get extra help with reading, math and any other subjects that may pose a struggle.
