The STCC Foundation offers four academic scholarships annually each Spring semester. This year's deadline to apply has been extended through Friday, April 17th. Please review the criteria of each below to see if you may qualify. Applications are open to current STCC students and may be completed online at stcc.academicworks.com. You will need to log in using your STCC provided student email address. 

Teresina B. Thompson Award

This award is presented to an outstanding graduating student, in the amount of $1,500.00, who emulates the qualities of Teresina B. Thompson. The nominee should possess her drive, her striving for perfection, her sincere interest in people, her sense of responsibility to self, her family, her profession, and to the community as well as her academic strength.

Requirements:

  • Current GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • Major/Program of Study must include Medical Laboratory Technician, Cosmetology, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Medical Assistant, Medical Coding and Billing Specialist, Medical Office Administrative Assistant, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Allied Health-General, Dental Continuing Education Program or Nursing Continuing Education.
 Lucille Goodson Parks Award

Applicant must be graduating this May with a minimum 3.0 QPA. This award is presented annually to a graduating STCC student in the amount of $500.00, who emulates the qualities of the late Professor Lucille Parks who served both the Greater Springfield community and this college so well during her tragically brief life. In many ways, Professor Parks provided an excellent role model for so-called "non-traditional" students, so many of whom attend STCC.

Requirements:

  • Must be currently employed.
  • Current GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • Must be African American, Hispanic or Native American.
Joseph J. Cooligan Award

Award presented annually to an STCC graduating senior in the amount of $500.00 who best emulates Mr. Cooligan's warmth, caring and community involvement. Mr. Cooligan served as vice chairman of the Advisory Board of STCC from 1967-1981 and as its chairman in 1979. The award is presented to a student excelling in the areas of community involvement, college activities, and academic achievement.

Requirements:

  • Must be currently employed.
  • GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0.
Edmond P. Garvey Award

Presented annually to two graduating STCC seniors at $750.00 each (one male, one female) who have, in the spirit of Former President Garvey and by virtue of their significant accomplishments both at the college and in the Greater Springfield community, enriched the lives of their fellow students and all others associated with STCC.

Requirements:

  • Current GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • Student must be a graduating student.
