STCC to offer certified auto damage appraisal course

Springfield Technical Community College will offer a certified auto damage appraisal course for insurance claims professionals and auto body technicians beginning Feb. 4. The 60-hour course is the first step to becoming an auto damage appraiser in Massachusetts. The training through STCC’s Workforce Development Center prepares students for the exam to be a licensed appraiser.

STCC announces the dean's list for fall 2019. The dean’s list is published each semester to recognize above-average academic performance. To be considered, degree-seeking students must earn 12 or more college level credits in the current semester or 12 or more combined college-level credits earned during the fall and spring semesters, and achieve a 3.3 or above grade point average.

STCC offers EMT classes starting Jan. 22

Interested in becoming an emergency medical technician? Springfield Technical Community College will offer EMT classes beginning Jan. 22. Students can choose to take day or evening courses to complete the program, which runs between January and May. Training takes place three days a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Day classes are held between 8 a.m. and noon. Night classes run 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Gateway to College at STCC inspires siblings to succeed

Brother and sister Fernando and Hayleigh Rosa, who both graduated from the Gateway to College at STCC, say the program put them on the pathway to success. Fernando works as a corrections officer and Hayleigh, a student at STCC, hopes to become a forensic pathologist.

STCC computer class project to benefit students in need

A Springfield Technical Community College computer information technology class’s final project transformed unwanted computers into a gift for students in need. Students in Professor Brian Candido’s CIT 131 UNIX 2 class rehabbed nine discarded computers, which will be donated to STCC students facing financial hardship.
