Masks, Commencement, & Fall Registration - March 28, 2022

Dear STCC Students, Faculty, and Staff:

After a great deal of consideration, with input across the college, and recognizing the significant changes in local/state/federal COVID policy and guidelines, I share the following information:

Effective Thursday, May 19th, STCC will no longer require masks indoors on campus

  • This date comes after the conclusion of Spring finals, and provides continuity in our teaching and learning environments for the duration of the semester.
  • Although we will have dropped an indoor mask requirement, anyone is welcome to voluntarily wear a mask, and your choice will be respected.
  • As a reminder, the STCC vaccination policy remains in effect, and those with accommodations are asked to faithfully comply with all parameters of that accommodation.

Thursday, June 2nd, STCC will host Commencement 2022 live and in-person, at the MassMutual Center in downtown Springfield

  • This event is off-campus, so any masking and vaccination requirements will be in accordance with city/state regulations. It is anticipated that no masking, nor proof of vaccination, will be required for attendance and participation.
  • Later in April, more detail and logistics will be communicated about Commencement. Please stay tuned here: Commencement | STCC

On April 12th, Summer/Fall 2022 Priority Registration begins, and for many programs, it is anticipated that a robust mix of in-person, hybrid, and online courses will be offered

  • With Fall Semester in particular, we are excited to breathe life back into campus, and increase in-person connecting through significant and meaningful ways.
  • Aligned to our access mission, we will work with students to build a schedule they need for busy lives, and encourage persistence with their educational pathways.
  • The STCC vaccination policy remains in effect for Summer/Fall Semesters.

By way of a reminder, the college will remain vigilant, and if COVID conditions warrant, and regulations require or otherwise change, STCC will not hesitate to revisit our operations. The vast majority of STCC students and employees on campus are vaccinated, and like so many of you, I look forward to a version of normal returning to campus, and I am excited to see you in person. The last two years have been incredibly difficult, but as I wrote recently, there is so much for which we can be proud.

Thank you for your time and attention,
