Police Detail Information
The STCC Police Department recognizes the need for safe and pro-active pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow at the College. The Department understands that at sporting and special events, a detail officer may be required to provide traffic control, security and/or crowd control. As such, the Department has authorized officers to work paid assigned police details in addition to his or her normally assigned shift. While on duty, the officers have the responsibility of enforcing laws, enforcing College policy, and protecting the safety of the community at Springfield Technical Community College.
A police detail may be required by College Policy under the following circumstances:
- Functions or events with an anticipated attendance of 100 or more people
- Any function or event where alcohol is served.
- Any function or event where the Department and/or College Administration have determined that a detail officer is required.
All requests for police details MUST be made no later than 7 days prior to the date of the event to ensure a detail can be filled. Any requests made later are subject to being denied and the event may be cancelled if a detail is required.
If the police detail is related to an event that is coordinated through the STCC Events Coordinator, the request for a police detail must be requested through the Events Coordinator. All other police details must be requested through the office of the STCC Police Chief or designee. Determinations of the need for and/or size of the police detail will be made by the Chief of Police or their designee.
