WTCC radio to launch fundraising effort in December

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – WTCC FM 90.7, the radio station on the Springfield Technical Community College campus, will hold its annual Radiothon 2019 Dec. 1-Dec. 8.
The station, which has been on the air for 50 years, provides a wide variety of music and information. WTCC strives to share local events and community information that directly affects the community.
“We’re on the air 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said general manager Fred “Flash” Layne. “All of the show hosts and DJs are volunteer. We depend on support from the community to continue to provide quality programming. The money we raise during the Radiothon will help us purchase and repair equipment as well as address other needs.”
WTCC FM 90.7 is a 4,000-watt community radio station with a signal that reaches listeners throughout most of western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. Listeners worldwide can hear the program on the internet (visit wtccfm.org)
The station’s diverse programming includes live talk shows on subjects of local interest, programs focused on area Latino, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Polish, Muslim, Native American and Caribbean communities as well as other music programs including jazz, gospel, rock n’roll oldies, R&B, country/bluegrass, alternative rock, blues, Motown, clubhouse dance, and reggae.
