STCC/MGM Announce Free "English in the Workplace" classes
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College in collaboration with MGM Springfield is offering a free, 30-hour “English in the Workplace” training program for anyone interested in improving their English language skills, including evacuees displaced from Puerto Rico due to the impact of Hurricane Maria.
"STCC will continue to do all we can to support workforce initiatives, and with MGM, we are placing collaboration right there with the 'technical' and 'community' aspects of our mission. I am grateful to the STCC Foundation for their financial support of the English in the Workplace training program," said STCC President John B. Cook.
As part of outreach efforts, STCC will be engaging area community-based organizations including Future Works, Career Point, New North Citizens Council, New England Farmworkers Council, and Enlace de Familias.

We encourage anyone interested in improving their English language skills to take advantage of this timely opportunity. Applicants for these free classes must be 18 years of age or older. All interested applicants should attend an Information and Registration Session to learn more about the free training program. Information and Registration Sessions will be offered this week in STCC’s Student Success Center Lab in Building 27 on the first floor.
Session dates/times:
- Wednesday, May 9 – 10 – 11 a.m. & 4 – 5 p.m.
- Friday, May 11 – 10 – 11 a.m.
English in the Workplace classes will run from Tuesday, May 15 until Thursday, May 31. Applicants must pick one class section to attend:
- Section 1: 9:30am-1pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Section 2: 1:30pm-5pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Section 3: 5:30pm-8pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
