STCC to offer evening phlebotomy for healthcare workers course in June
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College will offer an evening phlebotomy for healthcare workers course beginning June 10.
The class will run 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday, between June 10 and July 3. The 60-hour training, which is designed for individuals licensed in various medical fields, prepares students to take the exam to become a certified phlebotomist in Massachusetts.
Prospective students should have current certifications in at least one, but not limited to, the following healthcare roles:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Patient Care Technician (PCT)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (CET)
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
Students in the noncredit course will learn to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to obtain blood specimens for diagnostic procedures. STCC’s Workforce Development Center is offering the class.
