STCC to host free Leadership Conference on June 17
Springfield, Mass.—Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) will host its second annual Leadership Conference on Friday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Leadership Conference is free and open to professionals and students who want to become more effective leaders. The event is coordinated by Paul Thornton, STCC professor and tri-chair of business administration in the School of Business and Information Technology.
Thornton says the one-day event will feature a variety of guest speakers—area business leaders, entrepreneurs, and college professionals—who will present their topics in a TED-talk format. Each speaker is allowed up to 17 minutes to present his or her “big idea” about leadership.
Speakers include: H. Edgar Alejandro, manager, Eversource, Christina Atwater, STCC assistant professor of business administration, Kathleen Bolduc, consultant and STCC adjunct professor, Diana Brooks, consultant, Marty Caproni, comedian, Minister David Hurst, Grace Union Church, Mayor Richard J. Kos, City of Chicopee, Michael R. Matty, president, St. Germain Investment Management, Richard Trombetta, consultant and Michael Vann, consultant.
“Everything rises and falls on leadership. No group, team, or organization achieves greatness without an effective leader,” said Thornton. “Leaders are always in pursuit of something better. They seek opportunities to transform people and organizations.”
