Attendees gather for an International Women's Day event at STCC in 2023. The college will hold this year's event on March 5.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College invites the community to celebrate International Women’s Day with an inspiring event centered on this year’s theme: "Accelerate Action."
Taking place Wednesday, March 5, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Top of Our City Conference Room in Scibelli Hall (Building 2, 7th Floor), the event will highlight the achievements of women, foster empowerment and provide an engaging space for networking and support.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local female-owned businesses, enjoy lunch, desserts and beverages from Monsoon Roastery, and participate in a dynamic workshop led by Marjorie Rodriguez, Assistant Director of Student Access and Support at Westfield State University’s CARE (Course Achievement, Retention, and Engagement) program. The workshop, titled “Telling Your Narrative,” will take place 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m., offering insights on personal and professional storytelling.
In addition to the workshop, the event will feature the presentation of three Community Leadership Awards to a faculty member, staff member and student who have made a meaningful impact on the STCC community through service, engagement or volunteering.
The celebration is sponsored by Lead, the Female Leadership and Mentoring Program, and the Inclusion Series at STCC. Attendees are encouraged to dress up, though it is not required.
“International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the incredible contributions of women while also looking ahead to the work still needed to accelerate progress,” said Dr. Kiyota Garcia, Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and Interim Chief Equity Officer at STCC. “This event offers an opportunity for learning, collaboration and inspiration as we continue striving for greater equity and empowerment.”
