STCC presents author, activist Frederick Joseph on April 29
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Springfield Technical Community College Diversity Speaker and Performance Series on April 29 at 12:30 p.m. will present Frederick Joseph, bestselling author of “The Black Friend.”
The virtual event is free and open to the public. To register, visit visit stcc.io/joseph.
Joseph is an award-winning activist, philanthropist, and marketing professional. His debut book, “The Black Friend: On Being a Better White Person,” was an instant New York Times bestseller. He was named to the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 list, is a recipient of the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award from Comic-Con International, and was selected for the 2018 Root 100, an annual list of the most influential African Americans. He lives in New York City.
Writing from the perspective of a friend, Joseph offers candid reflections on his own experiences with racism and conversations with prominent artists and activists about theirs—creating an essential read for white people who are committed anti-racists and those newly come to the cause of racial justice.
