STCC named a top school in country for veterans
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) recently was selected for Military Times’ Best for Vets: Career & Technical Colleges 2017 rankings.

Akeilee Murchison, STCC’s veterans affair academic counselor, said: “STCC is dedicated to helping veterans pursue their higher education goals. We help them turn their military experience into a career.”
Murchison said 283 veterans are enrolled at STCC, which includes those taking online courses. There are 168 veterans on campus.
The Military Times Best for Vets distinction recognizes schools for their commitment to educating and providing opportunities to America's veterans, service members and families.
According to a Military Times article, schools from across the country complete a detailed, roughly 150-question survey for an opportunity to be recognized in the rankings.
The Military Times article stated: “In addition to considering survey responses to evaluate schools, we also took a deep dive into federal data, collecting and comparing key metrics from the Education Department, Veterans Affairs Department and Defense Department.”
Veterans and active-duty service members accounted for about 7 percent of the student population at responding schools.
