STCC launches Career Services resources for students, alumni
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Workforce Development Center at Springfield Technical Community College has launched Career Services, a resource for students and alumni interested in job-seeking strategies and other valuable tools to connect with employers.
STCC also is unveiling an internet tool called Career Coach (stcc.edu/career-coach) to help people determine their career path.
Students and alumni can use Career Services for assistance in setting career goals and matching their skills, values and interests with a career, said Dr. David Buonora, assistant vice president of the Workforce Development Center. Career Services works closely with local and regional employers.
The announcement of Career Services and the Career Coach tool comes as the Workforce Development Center celebrates National Career Development Month in November.
“We’re excited to offer these resources for STCC students and alumni as we celebrate National Career Development Month,” Buonora said. “We will help connect them with internships and jobs through our network of employers. Career Services is a comprehensive approach to career development. We are building on the success of the Career Development Center, which was housed in the academic side of the college.”
A division of the Workforce Development Center, Career Services will offer new initiatives and opportunities including job search strategies, techniques and information, Buonora said.
Career Services offered include:
- For Students: Information on career planning, full or part-time employment opportunities, as well as internships for that all-important work experience. In addition, staff will assist students in resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques including mock interviews, and the entire job search process. STCC faculty can refer students seeking employment opportunities and assistance.
- For Alumni: Staff will help any STCC alumni, including recent graduates or those who may have been out of college for a while and looking for a new beginning or a change in direction.
- For Employers: Find the talent at all levels of experience. Employers can post job and internship openings, or request scheduling interviews, recruiting events, and job fairs. STCC can serve as a pipeline for current and future employees.
- Career Coach website tool: Employers can post job openings on the career coach website. Career Services users can check the site and post their resume.
