STCC, Charter Oak State College to hold signing ceremony March 30 to announce transfer agreement

WHAT:
The presidents of Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) and Charter Oak State College (COSC) in New Britain, Conn., will sign an articulation agreement that allows students who earn an associate degree in Health Information Technology or an associate degree in Medical Billing and Coding at STCC to transfer seamlessly to Charter Oak.
Under the agreement, STCC graduates who have met certain requirements can enter Charter Oak as juniors and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (HIM). Charter Oak will transfer up to 87 credits from STCC.
Presidents of both colleges said the agreement is designed to create opportunities for students to graduate with degrees that are aligned with regional workforce needs.
After the signing, Deborah K. Green, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Global Services Officer for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), will provide details about an apprenticeship program for Health Informatics & Information Management (HIIM) professionals that is supported by a $15 million U.S. Department of Labor grant.
