STCC announces Diversity Speaker & Performance Series lineup for spring
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College has unveiled the Diversity Speaker & Performance Series lineup for spring.
Denice Frohman, an award-winning poet, performer and educator, will appear on March 4 at 11:15 a.m., Scibelli Hall Theater. Born and raised in New York City, Frohman is a CantoMundo Fellow, 2014 National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures grant recipient, 2013 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, 2013 Hispanic Choice Award winner and former Leeway Transformation Award recipient. Frohman’s work focuses on identity, lineage and disrupting notions of power.
Zeke Thomas, an open format DJ and producer, will appear on April 11 at 11:15 a.m., Scibelli Hall Theater. He has produced music videos inspired by his own life. He has drawn media attention from VH1, MTV, Billboard and others. Thomas is the first male spokesman for the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, an advocate and supporter of GLAAD.org, and an avid public speaker on social issues surrounding sexual assault.
Coordinated by the Office of Student & Multicultural Affairs, the Diversity Speaker & Performance Series is open to the public and free of charge.
