STCC Adult Learning Center to host “College for a Day” program May 24
WHAT: “College for a Day”
WHEN: Tuesday, May 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
WHERE: Springfield Technical Community College
DETAILS: The STCC Adult Learning Center will host approximately 160 students and teachers from local Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs to experience “College for a Day.” The event will feature a variety of classes from across many disciplines at the college. For a majority of the participating students, “College for a Day” is their first time on a college campus. The goal of the program is to provide students with an eye-opening experience of the many academic and career options available at STCC. Keynote Speaker - Melinda Khouri 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
(Melinda graduated from STCC’s Adult Career Pathway program in June 2015 and enrolled in STCC’s Criminal Justice Program in Fall 2015. A Dean’s List student, upon graduation Melinda plans to transfer to a four-year college to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Her career goal is to work with at-risk youth.)
