STCC adds new patrol vehicles to enhance campus safety
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College has made steps to decrease its carbon footprint with four new hybrid electric/gas patrol vehicles, acquired over the past three years as part of a program to replace an aging fleet.
These new cruisers provide a more reliable, efficient means for the STCC Police Department to protect and serve the campus community.
The two latest vehicles, introduced in July 2024, bring updated graphics featuring STCC’s maroon color and logo, along with a shift to a lighter gray base color that creates a more approachable presence on campus.
STCC Police Chief Jose “Joe” Rivera said the new cruisers will help the department in its mission to protect the campus. Each vehicle is equipped with the latest safety features, supporting the STCC Police Department – a team of 18 dedicated officers, supervisors and dispatchers – in delivering 24/7 security for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
“Our new hybrid cruisers ensure our officers have reliable and efficient transportation to keep our campus safe,” Rivera said. “The new design also reinforces our commitment to being a welcoming and approachable presence on campus.”
The STCC Police Department remains committed to maintaining a secure, inclusive environment, and the updated fleet plays a vital role in helping the team provide constant protection for the campus community.
