ServSafe courses, exams offered at STCC
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College offers a ServSafe Preparation and Certification Exam as well as a ServSafe Recertification Exam on four Saturdays this fall: Sept. 29, Oct. 27, Nov. 10 and Dec. 15.
The ServSafe Preparation & Certification Exam is a Workforce Development Center course that includes six hours of classroom instruction (8 a.m.-2 p.m.) and two hours of exam time (2 p.m.-4 p.m.).
Participants who achieve a passing score after completing the exam will be awarded a ServSafe certificate issued by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
Before taking the exam, students must order the 7th Edition ServSafe Manager textbook, English, and an online voucher, which can be purchased from popular booksellers. Students must bring the book and online voucher to the ServSafe Exam Preparation class.
Students who pass the exam and hold a certificate have the tools and knowledge needed to ensure their workplace meets industry standards for cleanliness along with proper safety requirements for food handling and preparation.
Those who have a current or expired ServSafe certificate and are seeking recertification may register for the ServSafe Recertification Exam, which will be given Sept. 29, Oct. 27, Nov. 10 and Dec. 15. Bring a picture I.D. and a current or expired ServSafe certificate. Participants may audit the ServSafe Exam Preparation class beginning at 8 a.m. prior to taking the two-hour recertification exam at 2 p.m.
