New York Times Bestselling author Dr. Sampson Davis kicks-off spring Diversity Series event Feb. 3
Springfield, Mass.—Physician, inspirational leader, founder of The Three Doctors Foundation, and New York Times Bestselling author Dr. Sampson Davis will deliver an inspirational talk at Springfield Technical Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Scibelli Hall (Building 2) gymnasium as the
college kicks-off its spring Diversity Series events.
The fifth of six children, Davis was raised in Newark, one of New Jersey’s poorest cities, in cramped living quarters surrounded by fragmented families, crime, and drugs. A good student, he found ways to strike the balance between being smart, yet socially acceptable on the streets—a combination of skills he says were critical to his survival.
Davis is the author of “Living & Dying in Brick City: An ER Doctor Returns Home” and co-authored “The Pact,” “We Beat the Street,” and “The Bond.” He has appeared on a number of talk and radio shows, including Oprah, The Today Show, The View, The Michael Baisden Radio Show, Tavis Smiley, National Public Radio, and has been a weekly correspondent on The Tom Joyner Morning Radio Show and CNN. His work has appeared in Readers Digest, O Magazine, People, The Washington Post, The New York Times, USA Today, Vibe, and Black Enterprise.
Traveling the country delivering keynote speeches covering timely issues such as healthcare and education, Davis also continues to practice medicine.
The event is free and open to the public. An author signing will be held and copies of Davis’ books will be available for purchase through Olive Tree Books. For additional information, please contact Vonetta Lightfoot at (413) 755-4416. For a complete listing of STCC Diversity events, please visit www.stcc.edu/diversity.
