Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute Launches Facebook Page to Promote School and Scholarships
Scholarships available for qualified Springfield-area residents
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 29, 2018) – The Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute (MCCTI) has launched a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/mccti) to get the word out about its presence, garner more interest in its training courses and raise awareness about its scholarship program.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the Springfield Technical Community College Foundation and the Holyoke Community College Foundation have provided funding to create scholarships for MCCTI students. To qualify, those interested need to be registered as an MCCTI student and fill out an application showing either financial need or job readiness.
“Through social media, we are hoping to spread the word about MCCTI and the opportunities that exist, including how to apply for a potential scholarship to attend and ultimately have a chance at getting a job at the end of the training. People need to know that ‘it’s game time.’ So if you or someone you know is interested in becoming a dealer at MGM Springfield, now is the time," said Michele Cabral, director of MCCTI.
HCC and STCC are running the gaming school through Training and Workforce Options (TWO) in collaboration with MGM.
Registration is ongoing for level 1 courses, which are designed for beginners. A level 1 blackjack class runs April 23 - June 1, and a level 1 poker class runs April 30 – July 6. Morning, afternoon and evening times are available.
Beginner classes for blackjack and roulette are scheduled May 7-June 15. A level 1 craps class will be held May 7-July 13. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available for blackjack, roulette and craps.

MGM Springfield and MCCTI will host several information sessions through May 5 at the MCCTI facility at 95 State St. in downtown Springfield. Sessions will be held every Saturday at 10 a.m. and on other days during the week with flexible times.
Free and open to the public, these sessions will provide specifics on registration and enrollment, what it takes to become a successful table games dealer, skills required and opportunities available. Scholarship information is also available. No formal education is required to apply to the school, and beginners are welcome.
