Director of Instructional Innovation and Faculty Investment named at STCC
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College announces Mary Wiseman as the new Director of Instructional Innovation and Faculty Investment.
Previously, Wiseman served as instructional designer at STCC. She has applied her expertise in instructional technology and design in higher education and industry for 15 years.
“We are excited Ms. Wiseman has accepted this critically important position at STCC. She will lead the Center for Online and Digital Learning and work closely with deans and faculty to promote teaching excellence,” said Dr. Geraldine de Berly, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “She brings extensive experience in instructional design, having played a key role in supporting faculty with developing online classes during the pandemic.”
In her three years at STCC, Wiseman codesigned the Online Development Program (ODP), assisted over 200 faculty in developing 400 online courses, designed, promoted and facilitated numerous faculty workshops. Additionally, she has served on various committees.
Wiseman has worked for MassMutual Insurance, and the Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) in Northampton. She also spent 11 years at the International School in Beijing as a visual arts instructor in the International Baccalaureate program.
She is active professionally presenting at conferences and has worked extensively with faculty on best practices in online and blended formats.
While at Bay Path University, she supported some 360 online courses and provided professional development.
Wiseman holds a Master of Science in higher education, online teaching and program administration from Bay Path University, a graduate certificate in instructional design from the University of Wisconsin (Stout), and two degrees from the New School for Social Research: a Master of Arts in media studies and a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences.
She is enrolled in a Ed.D. program at Northeastern University: Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership with anticipated completion in 2022.
