MEDIA ADVISORY: STCC Foundation to accept $100,000 donation for construction-related studies, scholarships

The Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) Foundation will accept a $100,000 donation from the Construction Industry Association of Western Massachusetts, Inc. (CIAWMI) during a ceremony at the college. The gift will be used for construction-related studies and scholarships.

STCC offers in-state tuition to hurricane evacuees from Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands

The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education (BHE) voted Dec. 12 to grant in-state tuition rates to evacuees from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who have been displaced by Hurricane Maria. With today’s vote, the state community colleges, state universities and the University of Massachusetts campuses will offer in-state tuition rates immediately through spring semester 2018.

STCC to offer free tax preparation assistance to Springfield community

Starting Jan. 24, Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) will once again offer free income tax filing assistance for low-to-moderate income taxpayers. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will help STCC students and surrounding community residents prepare and file their basic federal and state tax returns. Tax help will be available by appointment from Wednesday, Jan. 24, through Saturday, April 14.
