President Cook cited her numerous accomplishments, including establishing the college’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers as part of her commitment to increase the number of young women pursuing degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

STCC unveils new health science degree

Springfield Technical Community College this fall will offer a new health science degree program that will expose students to a range of health care careers in an immersive and rich learning environment. The associate in science degree at STCC would be ideal for anyone interested in a health care career, but who may not be aware of the many professional opportunities, said Matthew Gravel, dean of academic initiatives at STCC.

Casino training school graduates are ready to get in the game

Three recent casino training school graduates look forward to starting work at MGM Springfield. Holyoke Community College and Springfield Technical Community College, in collaboration with MGM, created the training school to help people learn skills to work at MGM Springfield. The next round of classes will start Sept. 10. MGM, which officially opens Aug. 24, has hired 3,000 people, including several graduates from MCCTI.
