Fulbright Scholars from Argentina experience STCC’s Diversity Event

The diverse mix of people who recently dined and danced at the Springfield Technical Community College’s Soul Food and Jazz Luncheon included six Fulbright Scholars from Argentina. Kamari Collins, vice president of student affairs at STCC, invited the Fulbright Scholars, who were studying at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley between Jan. 20 and March 8.

STCC to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8

The Hispanic Association in Higher Education (HAHE) will host the 14th Annual International Women’s Day Celebration featuring discussions about challenges and adversities women face. The public is invited to attend the event on Friday, March 8, between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., in Scibelli Hall (Building 2), Seventh Floor, on the STCC campus.

Professional beer brewing course returns to STCC April 13

Springfield Technical Community College on April 13 will offer a workforce development training course to teach the science and technology behind making beer. The 108-hour Professional Brewing Certificate Program blends online course work with hands-on lab work at local breweries. The course runs for 11 weeks starting April 13. Spaces are still available. A Professional Brewing Certificate is the first step in pursuing a career in brewing.

STCC to offer 2 CNA classes starting March 18

Springfield Technical Community College will offer two Certified Nurse Aide classes beginning March 18: CNA 1 and CNA 2. CNA 1 – the Nurse Aide and CPR Certificate Program – is designed for students seeking entry level job skills to enter the health care field. Students prepare for the Massachusetts State Board Examination to become a Certified Nurse Aide and receive certification in CPR.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Artwork by the Northampton photographer Sandra Matthews will be on view March 5-April 6 at the Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery, located in B28, on the campus of Springfield Technical Community College. A meet and greet reception for the photographer will be on April 2, 9:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m. The gallery is open to the public and there is no charge to view the exhibitions.

Need a dental cleaning but don’t have insurance? The Dental Hygiene program at Springfield Technical Community College offers cleanings, examinations and more at affordable prices. Dental hygiene students, under the direction of licensed dental hygienists and dentists, provide all treatment at the clinic in Building 20, Room 238. Basic dental cleaning service costs $35.

Springfield Technical Community College will offer an introductory three-day course on March 16, 23 and 30 designed for individuals seeking drone pilot training for business use. Intro to sUAS (small unmanned aircraft systems) will be taught on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at STCC.
