Springfield Vaccination Day coming to STCC on Oct. 30

Springfield Technical Community College on Oct. 30 will host Springfield Vaccination Day, a festive community event organized by Extreme Science Kid.com. The event will be an opportunity for anyone to get a free COVID-19 vaccine or booster shot and enjoy free live music as well as participate in fun family-friendly events on Halloween eve. Vaccinations will be given between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at STCC. Other events will run throughout the day, including morning and evening.

STCC’s Dental Assistant program returning in January 2022

Springfield Technical Community College is bringing back a revamped one-year dental assistant program to help fill a strong industry demand for trained professionals to enter the workforce. The program is open to anyone with a high school diploma or an equivalency such as a GED or HiSET and will accept up to 24 students for classes that start Jan. 24.

STCC’s Fall 2 term begins Oct. 27

Interested in classes at Springfield Technical Community College? The Fall Session 2 begins Oct. 27, and runs for seven weeks. The college will offer in-person, online and hybrid classes during the accelerated flex term. At seven weeks, the terms are half as long as the traditional 14-week semester. This means students can complete two courses in the time it takes to finish one traditional course.

Springfield police officer enrolled at STCC driven by desire to serve community

Springfield Police Officer Eric Blair is enrolled at STCC in the criminal justice program. He is pursuing an associate degree from STCC, and hopes to transfer and one day earn a master’s degree.

STCC prepared physician’s assistant for rigorous program at Yale University

Mike Mayo's experiences at STCC confirmed its reputation was well-deserved. He graduated with an associate degree in Liberal Arts/ General Studies. Though a liberal arts major, he took many science courses at STCC (including while at Springfield College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.) By the time he was in the 27-month PA program at the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, Mayo said he was completely prepared to handle the intensity of the program.
