STCC receives $3M to support Cybersecurity Center of Excellence at Union Station

Congressman Richard E. Neal joined Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Springfield Technical Community College President John B. Cook and Springfield Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Amanda Pham to announce a $3 million earmark to establish a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCE) within Springfield Union Station.

STCC celebrates Dental Assistant graduates

Springfield Technical Community College honored Dental Assistant graduates with a pinning ceremony that celebrated their academic achievements and welcomed them into the profession. The pinning ceremony was the first since the program relaunched at STCC in January 2022, with a move to run the program across a calendar year using afternoon and evenings to ensure access.

STCC alumni, now married, make an impact on community

When he decided to go to Springfield Technical Community College, Vilenti Tulloch had no idea how his choice would transform his life in so many ways. At STCC, he met another student named Yeselie Mascaro, who tutored him. They became not only study partners, but close friends and today are married with three children. The Tullochs express gratitude for all that STCC gave them. STCC was the start of a long journey that brought them where they are today.

STCC to offer free HiSET test preparation course

Are you ready to get the high school equivalency certificate? Springfield Technical Community College will offer a free four-week HiSET preparation fast track class from Jan. 9-Feb. 3. HiSET is the high school equivalency test, which is an alternative to a high school diploma.

Amber Sosnicki is in the STCC Dental Assisting program, which prepares students for jobs which are in high demand. She plans to transfer to the Dental Hygiene program after earning a certificate.

STCC Back to Business Career and Transfer Fair opens door to opportunities

Springfield Technical Community College helped the region get “back to business” with a career and transfer fair that attracted students, alumni and friends of the college. The STCC Back to Business Career and Transfer Fair on Thursday, Dec. 8, featured 39 employers and 10 colleges and universities. Representatives set up tables and answered questions. Some STCC student groups also were on hand to recruit for their organizations.

STCC receives funding to empower Latina students

Springfield Technical Community College was awarded a $25,000 grant to provide mentorship and resources to Latina and low-income female students. The funding from KPMG U.S. Foundation, Inc., will support an STCC diversity program called Business Leaders Owning Opportunity Matters (BLOOM) program.

Michelson IP Educator of Excellence award goes to 2 STCC professors

Springfield Technical Community College professors Diane Sabato and John Diffley received the Michelson IP Educator of Excellence award. Sabato, an STCC business professor, and Diffley, an attorney and history professor, have been working on the intellectual property educational initiative since 2020. STCC was one of only five colleges nationwide with faculty accepted into the Michelson IP (Intellectual Property) Educator in Residence Initiative.
