STCC grads reflect on Architecture and Building Technology 10-year anniversary

On April 23, 2013, the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education approved Architecture and Building Technology as a two-year associate degree program at Springfield Technical Community College. “That was a great day,” Professor Warren Hall said. “We were approved after a seven-year process. Creating programs is something I love to do. I like to figure it out and find out how to get people through the door.”

STCC theater to return in May after 3-year pandemic hiatus

The STCC College Theater Workshop's spring production, titled “Laughing for all the Wrong Reasons: A Night of Dark Comedy,” features six 10-minute plays. Assistant Professor Phil O’Donoghue, who directs the students, said he’s looking forward to seeing the actors in action on the stage at Scibelli Theater (Building 2) for three free performances for audiences in May.

STCC to offer Certified Nurse Assistant Plus training
Date: Friday, April 7, 2023
Springfield Technical Community College will offer Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Plus training in April and May. Participants who successfully complete the comprehensive in-person training will receive a CNA certificate, CPR certification and a Home Health Aide (HHA) training certificate. The program includes Alzheimer’s and Neurological Disorders training.

STCC to offer free course to prepare to become a teacher assistant

Springfield Technical Community College will offer a free nine-week course to prepare for the job of para educator in the Springfield Public Schools. The para educator, also known as a teacher assistant, works with teachers and other school staff to provide instructional assistance, classroom support and implement effective classroom strategies to meet the needs of all students.

Mechanical Engineering Technology professor recalls days as a determined STCC student

Lineisha Dominicci-Rosario was determined to persist and get her degree. It helped that she found a strong support system at STCC. Her professors reached out to help her succeed whenever she was struggling. She befriended another student, also a young woman, who became a study partner.

STCC to host Community Dental Day on April 29

Springfield Technical Community College dental hygiene program and the Valley District Dental Society will co-host Community Dental Day on Saturday, April 29. The event at STCC provides an opportunity for area residents who might not be receiving any dental care to obtain free treatment and schedule follow-up visits. This is the fifth Community Dental Day and the first since 2019. The event was paused during the pandemic.
