STCC to host Community Dental Day on April 29
Date: Thursday, March 23, 2023
Springfield Technical Community College dental hygiene program and the Valley District Dental Society will co-host Community Dental Day on Saturday, April 29. The event at STCC provides an opportunity for area residents who might not be receiving any dental care to obtain free treatment and schedule follow-up visits. This is the fifth Community Dental Day and the first since 2019. The event was paused during the pandemic.

STCC professor lauded for presentation on teaching ‘Internet of Things’

Springfield Technical Community College professor Gary Mullett recently received a “best presenter award” for his talk on teaching the “Internet of Things.” Mullett picked up the award in February at the 2023 American Society for Engineering Education Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration in Charleston, S.C.

Springfield Technical Community College wrestling team won fourth place at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships at the Puerto Rico Convention Center with eight student-athletes returning as All-Americans.

Academic counselor builds connections with veterans, service members at STCC

In December, Dr. Kimberly Reese started working as Veterans Academic Counselor at Springfield Technical Community College. In her new role, she holds many responsibilities related to assisting veterans, students who are serving in the military and military dependents. She advises student veterans and current service members on their course selections. She supports them and helps remove any barriers that may hinder their academic success.

STCC class taps into students’ love of video game design

To connect students with the ideas and concepts they are passionate about and want to learn, STCC’s Digital Media Production program in the spring 2023 began offering a course called Game Design and Development. Previously, STCC offered two general interactive media courses. The revamped course is more specific to elements of game design such as 2D gaming and development.

STCC wrestling team wins 6th conference title, advances to nationals

Springfield Technical Community College’s wrestling team continued its winning streak, capturing the sixth consecutive conference title on Feb. 25. STCC won first place at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) Northeast Conference Championship (NEC). Shawn Conniff was voted Outstanding Wrestler of the NEC championship. He and six other STCC wrestlers were crowned conference champions for their weight classes.
