Longtime STCC math professor honored as Faculty of the Year

STCC celebrates 2023 scholarship recipients at awards dinner

Springfield Technical Community College celebrated students who earned scholarships and recognized donors who provided them with generous support. The STCC Foundation welcomed scholarship recipients, donors, board members and others to a celebratory event on May 23 on the STCC campus. The event was titled 2023 Evening with the STAARS! “STAARS” stands for STCC’s Transformational Academic Achievement Reception for Scholars.

For graduating student, support at STCC helped him succeed

Drew Torres says he would not have made it to graduation this spring if not for the strong support network at Springfield Technical Community College. “The support system is the only reason I made it to where I am today,” he said. Torres will receive a degree from STCC and plans to continue with his education with the goal of becoming a nurse.

Digital Media Production graduate reflects on diversity at STCC

When he leaves Springfield Technical Community College, Javier Garcia says he will remember the vibrant diversity he found on campus. “I met so many people with so many different backgrounds,” Garcia said. “(Diversity) makes a better connection for everyone. That is something I will miss about my time at STCC.”

STCC partners with Elms to offer pathway to biology degree

Springfield Technical Community College and the College of Our Lady of the Elms are partnering to create an affordable and seamless pathway for students to transfer into the Biology Program at Elms. Students who earn their associate degree in Engineering and Physical Science Transfer (Biology Transfer) from STCC can enroll at Elms as a biology major to seek a bachelor’s degree, according to the terms of an articulation agreement.

STCC Applied Psychology program responds to mental health demand

STCC, the only technical community college in Massachusetts, offers a variety of programs in healthcare and other fields that address industry demand for skilled workers. The Behavioral Science program Applied Psychology prepares students with the foundations of psychology. They acquire skills to enter the job market. Some choose to transfer to a four-year university or college to further their education.

STCC inspired entrepreneur to create retro video game business

STCC alumnus Frank Bond '08 owns Stateline Video Games, with three locations. He specializes in retro video games, selling brands such as Nintendo and Atari, which were popular in the 1980s. He says STCC helped shape who he is today.
