Employee Excellence Awards
Each year, Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) proudly presents the Employee Excellence Awards to staff members who consistently demonstrate dedication and commitment to our students, faculty, and staff. These individuals inspire those around them to approach their work with positive energy and enthusiasm. They create an environment where going above and beyond for our students and the campus community is the standard.
Each spring, the STCC community, led by the President and executive cabinet, gathers to honor those staff members who consistently demonstrate extraordinary performance and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Springfield Technical Community College. The awards are The President’s Award for Innovation in Diversity & Inclusion, The Individual Contributor Award/Star Award, and The Community Champion Award.
The awards' criteria demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the culture, work, and learning environment for the entire STCC community. For information on the awards and process please see the STCC Employee Excellence Awards Information (PDF) or the information below.
A 9-member committee consisting of faculty and staff representing all areas of the College, is appointed by the President and Human Resources Department. No more than one Assistant Vice President or higher can serve on the Committee at any time. Members generally serve 2-year terms to provide a level of continuity and other logistical support. The Committee will elect one member to serve as Chair for a one-year term, to be chosen at the last meeting of the prior year.
The ballots to nominate colleagues for an Employee Excellence Award will once again be submitted electronically and will be accepted from April 5, 2024 until April 26, 2024.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Human Resources Department to ensure that candidates’ behavior and performance reflect the criteria of each award. Honorees must be employed by the College at the time of the award presentation to receive the award.
The EEA Committee will review the nominations and by May 3, 2024, provide President Cook with the top three recommendations for each award. The winners will be announced through a campus wide communication and their names will be inscribed on a plaque listing them as the 2023-2024 honorees. The plaque is displayed in the Ira H. Rubenzahl Student Learning Commons (B19). This will be the fourth year that the recipients will be so honored thereby leaving a demonstrable imprint on the people and infrastructure of the STCC community.
