English as a Second Language
The Bilingual Services Program is designed to assist students whose native language is not English. The Program facilitates the students' entrance into the college when first learning the English language and helps them with the adjustment to the college environment.
In addition to English as a Second Language courses, the Bilingual Services program offers courses in mathematics taught in the Spanish language. These are basic courses that are designed to help students meet certain pre-requisites needed to transfer to regular programs at the college. Students need to take a Math Placement Test to be placed in either the Basic Mathematics, Algebra I or Algebra II course. All students entering the General Studies/ESL Program must take an Entrance Placement Exam in order to be placed in the appropriate level of ESL.
The program also offers academic/vocational counseling and personal counseling. The Bilingual Services Office is located in Garvey Hall, Building 16, Room 146.
