Members of Gallery A3, the Amherst Art Alliance, will present a joint exhibit at the Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College on November 6 through November 24. The 20 members of Gallery A3 represent a cooperative, contemporary fine art gallery. The exhibit is titled A3 Shows Up @ STCC. A reception for the artists will be held on Friday, November 6 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the fine arts gallery at STCC.
Francie Riddle, Coordinator of the Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery, said,”A3 has long been one of the most energetic, dedicated, and committed groups of artists in Western Massachusetts. They are constantly breaking the boundaries of visual art. This show gives them a chance to experiment with a new space, as it gives Springfield a chance to see the visions of 20 extraordinary contemporary artists.”
The Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery is open to the public free of charge; it is located on the lower level of Building 28 on the STCC campus. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 12:30 to 4:30, and Saturday 10:00 to 2:00. This exhibit is made possible by funding from STCC Student Activities.
Gallery A3 was formed as a “new venue for contemporary, innovative art …to form a creative, healing response to the devastation of September 11, 2001.” It opened, in Amherst, in March 2002. Gallery A3’s mission is “to enrich our lives with an alliance of established professional and emerging artists; to support members in creating and exhibiting exciting new contemporary work; and to enliven our community by offering exhibits including receptions, art walks, and open forums.”
Artists of Gallery A3 are Olivia Bernard, Marianne Connolly, Sue Curran, Helena Dooley, Ellen Grobman, Constance Hamilton, Keith Hollingworth, Bob Horowitz, Sue Katz, Guru Karam Khalsa, Gloria Kegeles, Lourdes Morales, Tom Morton, Rebecca Muller, Dorothy Osterman, Evelyn Pye, Larry Smith, Jitnapa Suthikant, Jozan Treston, and Janet W. Winston.
